@prologic where on IRC? Network, channel, nick? IRC is vast! It’s like saying, “meet me in Australia, and we go from there!” 😅

@bender I'm not sure this is accurate, if you lookup mine:

$ whois shortcircuit.net.au 2>&1 | grep -i creat
created:      1986-03-05

I think this has to be the registrar's creation date no? 🤔

Yeah I can't figure out when I registered shortcircuit.net.au 😭

@prologic want to share the snippet of your Caddyfile for irc.mills.io?

In reply to: #zhlsx2q 2 months ago
prologic (twtxt.net)

@kate I already have my IRC server irc.mills.io running behind Caddy Layer 4. However I don't terminate TLS at the edge in this case.

@prologic so, where is the irc.mills.io leaf, connecting to Libera? 🤭

@kate @eldersnake @abucci -- I've already spoken to @xuu on IRC about this, but the new SqliteCache backend I'm working on here, what are your thoughts regarding mgirations from old MemoryCache (which is now gone in the codebase in this branch). Do you care to migrate at all, or just let the pod re-fetch all feeds? 🤔

@prologic, from IRC:

  1. Saving preferences is failing. Specifically trying to save "Open Links" on the same window. For sure it isn't happening. Check errors on browser's console.
  2. Search results pagination is broken. Search for "twtxt.net" and see it. Also, picking oldest/newest makes no difference on that search query.

In Mexico you couldn't register the word Sonora (state), nor Taqueria (kind of restaurant) as there are two common words, but perhaps the combination of both is trademarkable, I'm not sure, so many 'taquerias' here don't file a trademark request. It's usually "Taquería [LAST_NAME]" or "Taquería [PLACE]".

At the same time, the word "taqueria" was trademarked in UK, like it would be "Paris" or "Pub" I guess, so basically Sonora Taqueria didn't reply to the cease and desist, based on:

[Lizbeth García]: A brand may not use a word that is generic or descriptive of the products or services it is putting into circulation on the market.

Since he (Ismael, Taqueria's representative) didn’t get any response, he decided to leave it in the hands of his law firm.

In early 2023, after all the noise on the internet and the mobilization caused by this case, an agreement was finally reached with Taquería to settle the matter peaceably.

In March 2023, Michelle and Sam decided to register the Sonora Taquería brand and logo with the UK Intellectual Property Office.

So what are some good alternatives to GitHub, that are not based in USA? I like the minimal feel of sourcehut but it seem you have to pay if you want your, not just submit patches to others repos. But they also got IRC bouncer and mailing-lists included. Codeberg also looks appealing being based in Germany.

What are peoples #IRC setup? Do you have your own bouncer server or just have a you computer always on? And do you IRC on mobile?
